Planting Method
Tomatoes can be
a) direct seeded where 2-3 seeds are placed directly into holes made into the soil. After 3 weeks, thinning is carried out.
b) or transplanted as seedlings. The seeds are sown in Jiffy pellets or Jiffy pots. Only one seed is needed per pellet / pot. Plants are then ready to be transplanted after 3-4 weeks.
Weeds
Weeds can severely hinder the development of plants specialy during the first weeks of their growth.
General Land Preparation
Use Touchdown Forte Hitech for a general weed treatment at least 3 weeks before plantation.
Post Emergent Treatment
Fusilade Super can be sprayed over the tomato plants to control following annual and seedling perennial grasses
