NematodeNematodes are microscopic eel-like worms that attack many species of fruits, ornamentals and vegetables. There are many species of nematodes in Mauritius and the one that is of economic importance is the root-knot nematode. Root knot nematodes symptoms can be seen as distinctive galls on roots of plants and above ground, plants appear wilted and eventually die. Nematodes are very difficult to control but following measures can greatly reduce the population in the soil:
Soil solarisation
Crop rotation
Field sanitation
