The largest family of mammals are the rodents and the most common ones are the mice (Mus Muscus) and the Brown rat (Ratus Norwegicus).
Rodents can cause a lot of damage to stored food as they urinate and defecates while eating hence can be a threat to human health since they are known to convey diseases such as cholera. They also cause damage to properties because of their need to gnaw so as to keep their growing teeth from getting too long.
Rodents are controlled by using ;
- Poison baits based on anti-coagulants eg Klerrat blocks or Klerat pellets, which generally cause them to die from internal bleeding.
- Trapping which can be a live trap, or as in the mouse trap can be designed to deliver a swift fatal blow
