Tongati has a compact growth habit and the pods are produced in a cluster in the center of the plant, well off the ground, and protected by a strong leaf canopy. The uniform maturity of the pods allows for mechanical harvesting. In the case of hand picking one or two pickings is required resulting in a substantial saving in labor cost. |
